Spring Time

It's nice to wake up to quiet house (hubby went fishing in the predawn hours), turn on some jazz and
move around and clean. I kept the music on all day even when I wasn't home. (I think my cats enjoy the music.)
Going out today I could see that the wild flowers are in full bloom, the sun was out. and the temperatures were in the 80's. Perfect "summer" weather! This time of year is my "summer" where I can enjoy the outdoors before the high heat and humidity rolls in.

For the first time, my oldest son joined me today for some meditative Kundalini yoga. It really soothes the soul, and I absolutely love the Totally Divine Yoga studio.  When we were done I asked my son what he thought of it, and his response was: "it was insightful" so I think that's positive experience he had. I really enjoyed his company today.

When I got back home I had a desire to paint, but I also wanted to be outside, so I decided for the latter and took the dogs to the park for a walk. It was nice to be there among all the people that were out today. The dogs really enjoyed the outing!

I took some picture for inspiration to create some new art.  I think my next project will be in the form of a painting.

Successful shows!

Thursday and Friday evening of this this week went GREAT!

My husband and I attended the Inspire Fine Arts gala & show on Thursday evening. It was a great event that supports children's art education.  I was actually surprised when my name was announced and I won runner up in the 3D category for my "Celestial series of Nine"!  My prize was $50 cash and a $50 gift certificate at Herwicks art supplies!  I already know what I want to purchase at Herwick's!  Then I received a surprising call from Inspire yesterday afternoon, letting me know that the Tobin Center wants to display all the winner's artwork for the entire month of April. What a huge honor!
"Celestial series of Nine"

Last night we attended the Say Si for the Small Scale Work for a Lager Cause silent auction.  I love being invited to participate in this show, donating my art for children's art education. I feel it's so important for kids to express themselves through art. I was also pleased to see that even though my art had sold in the pre-sale, that it was still displayed at the silent auction.  One my favorite parts of this show is seeing other artists work, and seeing my artist friends! It's always nice to be in the company of Nicole and Sam!

I would like to thank Micheal for purchasing "Sunrise"! Enjoy!

Upcoming Art shows

The end of the month is near, and the two art shows I have artwork in are happening this week!

It looks like someone has already purchased the "sunrise" piece I donated to SaySi prior to the silent auction that is occurring at 7pm on Friday, March 27th!   This make me very happy! I hope whoever has purchased it will enjoy it! Here is a link to the online store of available artwork at SaySi. If you would like to attend The SaySi Silent auction you can purchase tickets at the door or through the their website.

I am also excited to be a participant at the Inspire Art show at 7pm on Thursday, March 26th.  If you're in the San Antonio area and would like to attend, please check out their website for information and tickets.

Spring break

This is the 3rd year in a row that it's rained for spring break. Definitely not beach weather.

On the flip side, I have had the pleasure to hang out with all three of my kids, at one time, which is a rarity since they all live in different cities.  The younger two arrived on Saturday and we went to visit my oldest in his new apartment on Sunday.  I was lucky enough for them to "allow" me take a picture, forget it if I was to ask to take another since my oldest eyes are closed.

We have been doing nothing more than cooking, eating, and just enjoying each other's company.

My daughter always takes her little dog Bam Bam everywhere she goes. She is barely 10 pounds and her personality is like a lovable, spoiled, only dog-child.  She needs all the attentions and even gets jealous when my cats come around me, but at least she gets along with my other two doggies we have!   I spiked her gray streak for the picture!

I haven't  gone into my studio in what seems for weeks now, and I feel restless.  I also haven't followed through with the 21 one day cleanse either, which now I'm glad since I have been eating BBQ, chips and other treats!    I'll wait until after spring beak to think about this again.

Rainy Sunday

I follow several blogs and enjoy reading each and every one them.  It's amazing to me that I feel a sense of community, here on the computer, with the bloggers that I follow.  I actually get happy for them when they post something good happening in their lives, and I also feel sad when something sad or bad happens.  One of my blogger friends lost her mother and I feel the tremendous sadness she is going through.  Even though we never met in person, or ever talked on the phone, I just feel a connection with her. I am sad for her loss. No matter how old Mom is, or how sick she is, you always want Mom around.  My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

on another note, today is just a soggy day. I still needed to get out though. I told my husband that I was going to attend a fund raiser that the San Antonio Potters Guild was presenting at the the Southwest School of Art. I also told my husband if he wanted to join me he could, otherwise I was going with or without him.  When I say it like that, he always comes, and it seems he always enjoys himself. (I guess I learned that trick being married to him for 20 years!)  Anyway, we arrived at the 15th annual Empty Bowls benefiting SAMMinistries and WOW!, there were so many beautiful bowls to choose from! We were like kids in a candy store!  The bowls are $20.00 each and once you purchase a bowl you get a bowl of soup and bread for lunch. It was really good!

This year, for the first time, the San Antonio Glass Guild participated with bowls and art for the silent auction. Even though we got there relatively early, the glass bowls were already gone. It was really nice to see familiar faces and talk for a bit.
