Connections

All of us go through our day with some type of schedule and routine, and when something happens to break that routine it could go good or bad.   Last Saturday as I was preparing for our Sunday Easter dinner, I received a call from a good friend of mine. She  had a made a pit stop in San Diego on her way home to Kamloops, BC from her vacation in Baja Mexico. It was a very nice surprise to hear from her, and an even nicer surprise that she wanted to come and visit me!

I picked her up from the airport late Saturday night, had a wonderful Easter dinner on Sunday with family and friends. My friend and I spent the next couple of days just going places and doing things!  It was great that I was able to take off a couple of days from work just to have fun!

We drove down to Port Aransas, had a great lunch, flew a kite, ate fudge pops on the beach and just enjoyed each others company. We also went to a Pilates class, ate a gooey french sandwich afterwards and went to the movies to watch Home.

Between flying a kite, (which she hadn't done since she was 7), and going to the movies to watch the animated film Home, I felt like a little girl playing with my best friend!  I enjoyed her company immensely and wished that she did't live so far away, but no matter, I felt special that she thought  of visiting me, instead of going home.

It's amazing that when you meet a person, there can be a connection right away.  We met five years ago in a glass workshop on beautiful Whidbey Island, WA. We became fast friends and have spent the last five years talking on the phone on Sunday mornings..

I hope I get to see her again soon, if not, I at least look forward to having Sunday morning coffee with her.
